A Career Built on Care: Celebrating Vicky’s 15 Years
Some careers are measured in years, but their true impact is found in the people helped, the challenges overcome and the relationships built along the way. For Vicky, 15 years at Panhandle Eye Group have been filled with all three, creating a story of dedication, growth and heartfelt connection.
From a Nervous New Hire to a Grateful “Old-Timer”
Over the past 15 years, Vicky has grown alongside Panhandle Eye Group, building a career rooted in care, communication and continued learning. When she looks back on her first days with the practice, she remembers how nervous she felt as a new employee.
“What I remember most about my first days at Panhandle Eye Group is being scared to death,” Vicky said. “I was scared of my own shadow and afraid I would embarrass myself in front of the doctors or be asked a question by a patient that I couldn’t answer.”
Today, Vicky can look back on those early nerves with a sense of humor and gratitude.
“I don’t know where the past 15 years have gone,” she said. “I have changed so much, from that scared new hire to a very grateful ‘old-timer.’ I say ‘old-timer’ because I am the oldest employee by age.”
Learning Through Change
Vicky’s training began on her first day, but the learning did not stop there. As technology and the medical field have continued to evolve, she has adapted to new programs, electronic systems and processes.
“My training started on day one, and 15 years later, the training never really ends because the medical field is constantly changing,” Vicky said.
Although learning new systems can sometimes be challenging, each change has allowed her to continue growing in her role.

A Vital Role in Patient Care
Vicky works in medical records, where she helps retrieve and distribute records to patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, legal entities and other authorized parties.
Her role also involves protecting confidential information and ensuring medical records follow HIPAA requirements, patient privacy standards and other legal policies.
Medical records must remain accurate, secure and accessible for both clinical and legal purposes, whether they are stored on paper or electronically. While some parts of the job can be repetitive, Vicky understands the importance of her work within the patient care process.
Communication and Connection
Clear communication is essential when working with patients, healthcare providers and other authorized parties. For Vicky, those daily interactions are also one of the most rewarding parts of her job.
“Communicating with everyone is definitely my favorite part of the job,” she said. “It reminds me that doing my job correctly is very important to the people I help.”
The relationships she has formed with her coworkers have also made the past 15 years meaningful.
“I have worked, and still work, with many special people,” Vicky said. “Getting to watch them do their jobs with such care and compassion has been a privilege.”
Looking Back and Moving Forward
Although some workdays may feel long, Vicky said the years themselves have passed quickly. The support and kindness she has received from the people around her have made her time at Panhandle Eye Group even more meaningful.
As she looks toward the future, Vicky knows retirement will one day bring a new chapter. When that time comes, she will carry the memories of the people and experiences that shaped her career.
“When I look back at everything we have gone through as a team to provide the highest quality of patient care, I will remember so many strong, brave and amazing faces that I have supported and believed in,” she said. “I will always wish them the very best.”
Panhandle Eye Group congratulates Vicky on 15 years of dedication and service. We are grateful for the care, knowledge and commitment she continues to bring to our patients and team.
