From Receptionist to Clinic Leader: Tisha Brown Celebrates 15 Years with Panhandle Eye Group
When Tisha Brown joined Panhandle Eye Group 15 years ago, she was looking for an opportunity to learn, grow and make a difference in the patient experience. She began as a receptionist, unaware that the position would become the starting point of a rewarding career in ophthalmic care.
Today, Tisha serves as Clinic Director and Surgical Coordinator, helping lead her team, oversee clinic operations and guide patients through their surgical experiences. Her journey reflects 15 years of professional growth, strong relationships and a continued commitment to providing compassionate patient care.
A Career Built One Role at a Time
As a receptionist, Tisha learned the importance of providing excellent customer service, staying organized and creating a welcoming experience for patients.
“I quickly found that I really enjoyed working with our patients and being part of a team that was dedicated to providing quality eye care,” Tisha said.
She later moved into an ophthalmic technician role, which allowed her to strengthen her clinical skills, gain hands-on experience and develop a better understanding of the clinic’s daily operations.
As Tisha gained experience and accepted more responsibilities, she grew into her current leadership roles. Today, she serves as Clinic Director and Surgical Coordinator. She oversees clinic operations, helps lead the team, coordinates surgical procedures and works to ensure patients receive the highest level of care and service.
“Looking back, I’m proud of how my career has progressed because each position built on the skills and experience I gained in the role before it,” she said. “My journey has taken me from learning the fundamentals to becoming a leader responsible for both the team and the overall success of the clinic.”
A Partnership Built on Trust
A meaningful part of Tisha’s journey has been working alongside Dr. Amber Dixon. Over the years, they have developed a strong professional relationship built on trust, teamwork and a shared commitment to their patients.
“After working together for so long, there is a level of teamwork and understanding that makes our days run smoothly, and I truly value that,” Tisha said.
Tisha admires Dr. Dixon’s dedication to providing patients with the best care possible. She finds it especially rewarding to support patients throughout every stage of their experience, from routine appointments and surgical preparation to moments that may feel uncertain or overwhelming.
“I especially enjoy getting to know her patients and being there for them throughout their experience,” she said. “It’s rewarding to know that the work we do together can make such a meaningful difference in our patients’ lives.”

Motivated by People and Purpose
For Tisha, the people she has met and worked with are what have kept her committed to Panhandle Eye Group for 15 years. She values the relationships she has built with patients and the opportunity to follow their progress from their first visit through treatment.
Her coworkers have also played an important role in her experience. Tisha said she feels fortunate to have grown alongside a team of talented and caring people who share the same commitment to serving patients.
“Panhandle Eye Group has continued to give me opportunities to learn, take on new challenges and grow professionally,” she said. “After 15 years, I still feel like there is something new to learn and another way I can contribute.”
Lessons from 15 Years of Care
As she reflects on this milestone, Tisha is proud of the knowledge and experience she has gained. However, the relationships she has formed with patients, physicians and coworkers remain among her greatest accomplishments.
“Being able to contribute to a team that helps improve our patients’ quality of life is incredibly rewarding,” she said.
Her advice for those beginning a career in ophthalmic care is to remain curious, ask questions and embrace every opportunity to learn. She also encourages new team members to remember the person behind every appointment, chart and procedure.
“Every patient may be nervous, anxious or trusting you with something very important—their vision,” Tisha said. “Treat every patient with kindness, patience and compassion. If you do that and stay committed to growing, you can build a very rewarding career in ophthalmic care.”
Panhandle Eye Group congratulates Tisha on 15 years of dedicated service and thanks her for the leadership, compassion and commitment she continues to bring to her patients, physicians and team.
